Credit Programme for Women Petty Traders
|

This project was launched in 1993 in
collaboration with Working Women’s Forum
(I), Chennai. We trained and disbursed
small loan to 600 women petty traders
in 75 groups in 36 villages of Kalapathar
GP of Sonepur district. Women are trained
on Status of women in our society, Child
care & Nutrition, Laws relating to women
and Reproductive health.
These women used the loan money in various
petty trades of their own choice — vegetable
growing, broom-making,, popped rice,
milk-curd, rope-making, Mat making,
Grocery shop, small restaurant, paddy
and rice trade, leaf cup-plate making,
fish business, mini poultry, peanut
and ground nut growing, etc.

Women are self-dependent by nature,
especially tribal women. We have organized
21 WSHG who are engaged in thrift and
credit and small petty trades. These
women are trained on Women status, Gender
Equity, Mother & Child Health, reproductive
system and entrepreneurship development.
These 283 women in 21 groups of three
blocks of Sonepur district have formed
an federation called Duradarshini Mahila
Mahasangha in 2004. |

Study
on Girls of Sonepur District who are
married out of Orissa through mediators. |
|

| |
|
This is a study of the recent phenomena
seen in many districts of Western Orissa.
The study was conducted taking 109 girls
in 38 villages as sample. Main objective
of this study is to find out whether
these marriages are marriage in reality
or a form of trafficking of young women.
We are looking forward to work on this
issue in Balangir and Sonepur district. |

of VAW. Also we helped few NGOs working
in Sundergarh, Balangir, Kalahandi,
