Health and
Nutrition is our basic need and one of
the Human rights recognized universally
and pronounced in Universal Declaration
on Human Rights. But unfortunately
Orissa with all its natural resources
lies poor and hungry. around 80% of
population who live in Rural society
suffer from acute or semi-malnutrition.
Children of Balangir suffers
malnutrition acutely and Balangir is
pathetically leading in the estimation
of malnutrition with 35-38%
We are working
to increase the rate of Nutrition and
decrease IMR since 2000, in Integrated
Nutrition and Health Project in
Balangir. Since
July 2005 INHP-II (Post MTR Phase) we
are covering 756 Anganwadi Centre of
45 ICDS sectors and 9 PHC/CHC area of
Nine Blocks. In 2005 we started
working in 9 blocks of Balangir district--
these
blocks are Agalpur, Gudvella,
Saintala, Belpada, Deogaon, Muribahal,
Titilagarh, Tureikela and Bangomunda. In
a Phase out Plan now in 2008 we are
working in three Blocks--Tureikela,
Bangomunda & Titlagarh.
In INHP at present our objective is
to reduce % of Malnourishment and Infant
Mortality Rate of our project area through
assuring Quality Service Delivery of ICDS and Health sectors —we take strategies
of Supportive Supervision, Capacity
Building which are conducive to it .
Also we work with
PRI, CBOs, SHG federations in INHP-III
for Capacity Building and Collaborate
Coordinate and facilitate inclusion of
Nutrition and Health Agenda in their
plan of Action with an objective of
ensuring their participation and
Monitoring of Service Delivery of Health
& ICDS system
