All the girls
(11 to 19 years of age, most of them
are tribal) )were from poor economic
background and it was found that most
of these girls were engaged in various
income-generating activities which
are seasonal, labour-consuming and
low-paid .Specifically they were engaged
in more than thirty odd occupations
like:- preparing soil for making pot,
Forest-produce collection, kendu (Tobacco)
leave collection, wood cutting, agricultural
labour, broom-stick-grass collection,
supply water to houses, house hold
assistant, baby-sitter, leaf-cup-plate
stitching, cattle-keeping (goat),
pooped rice petty trade, rice-husking,
home-made quilt stitching, thread
work for weaving, loom-operation &
weaving, labourer in construction
site/brick kilns/ stone crushers/tile
making etc.
This project was started in 1993 up
to 1995 and second phase (for six
month )in 1996, Still the enthusiasm
of girls could make it run for next
5-6 years. After marriage of girls
many girls went out of the village,
still few girls remained unmarried
and in the village. You may not believe
these girls still now remember those
good old fun days and any opportunity
in community works they volunteer
to join. Many of them joined as member
of Health & Nutrition Monitoring Committee
of our next project INHP. They always
show responsibility and interest to
be involve in community actions.
